Engine

Currently the best powerplant that can be installed in a Bonanza is the Continental IO-550-R overhead induction engine.  With superior reliability, service life, performance, and minimal vibration, the IO-550-R outdoes all other piston options.  RPM/MAP restrictions are eliminated, and turbine smoothness is felt throughout the operating range.  The STC’d conversion kit from Tru Atlantic incorporates a two piece carbon fiber nosebowl and cowl doors which decrease weight and improve fitment.  The kit also includes a rugged, tight sealing baffle setup to increase cooling ability, and all parts are FAA/PMA approved.

IO-520:

  • 285hp @ 2700rpm
  • Fuel injected
  • Wet sump oil system
  • TBO: 1700hrs

IO-550-B:

  • 300hp @ 2700rpm
  • Fuel injected
  • Wet sump oil system
  • TBO: 1700hrs

IO-550-R overhead induction:

  • 310hp @ 2700rpm
  • Fuel injected
  • Wet sump oil system
  • TBO: 2200hrs

Airframe

Over the years, many modifications have been developed for Bonanzas and Barons.  Many are STC’d and some that can be performed with a simple field approval.  Some of the more popular modifications include:

  • Wing tip tanks
  • LED lighting
  • Pneumatic cabin door struts
  • Thicker windshield and side windows
  • Oxygen systems
  • Air conditioning
  • Landing lights
  • Sound and heat insulation
  • Rudder hinge brackets
  • Standby alternators
  • Fuel tank quick drains
  • Digital primary engine analyzers
  • 8” wheels and brakes
  • Cleanable air filters
  • Control surface conversion to aluminum
  • Sealed battery conversions
